Hi,

HCL company is famous for the place of politics, HR team hire people with good skillsets, once joined HCL you never get a chance to work your skill set (which they interviewed), In my experience HCL is having only minimum level of development project, all most all are second line support (like BPO ), if you are into hcl for more than 1 year , you have to loose your skill set.

Beware ….. firing too may happen ……. as they say ‘All in a day’s work!’

    Yes,
    I agree with above comments,
In Some projects(dont want to mention the project name), they wont allocate into projects immediatly rather than they treat experienced people like school kids, they allocate one mentor, the new joinees(experienced) has to read books(no way related to your experience)and have to attend written test and interviews, otherwise you have to read those books for years…

    Yes,
Its really true. Its happens a lot in hcl they have taken interview on Java/J2EE but they put candidates on production support of Sql. At that time this thing has happened to so many people. some of the freshers are recruited through campus selection to work upon semi conductor related project but they are also in the same project.

I fully, dont agree with u my dear friend.
the way u think is just like the same way our ancestors use to think. Lots of people are coming to company, most of them are fresher, until and unless they will get somthing to work on,how will they learn.
More than that , there are thousands who are still looking for job, and for them, HCL is like a paradise. So dont take any thing in negative sense.
Life is a challenge. Accept it.
    its just ur initial stage.
    So learn for adjustment,,,TC ;)

I completely agree! Its a type of company where you skills are something and they’ll ask you to work on something. They will literally kill the people. Managers are the worust(Square) people in the company.

This time they dont need us so they are shunting us out and as soon as they have few openings, they will be nice to us and the same managers will be turning into good speakers and motivators , friends this is not the case with HCL , more or less every IT company is behaving like this, this is making life hell for all new comers in the market

Guys, HCL is the worst nightmare I have had in my 10 years of IT experience. Managers hire someone whom they know from their previous company and that guy hires some of his friends. The interviews are just a formality because both interviewer and candidate know each other. From day of joining the candidate gets to know the manager who ‘arranged the interview’ and they form the inner group. Other guys who join thru walkins or thru complete interview are treated as second class citizens by them. Managers openly ask monetary gains or favours. I know of guy who drops manager’s child in school. In onsite I have seen manager carrying beer cartons and following behind senior service delivery manager in deparmental stores. You can see sycophancy at it’s heights in HCL. If you are a hard working and intelligent professional and can do all your taks without any help then you will be branded as arrogant and having ‘attitude problem’ Manager and his cohorts go onsite together and share room and claim bills together. I know of managers who went onsite 4 times staying less than one month at a time because as per policy if he stays for less than one month per diem is $165 but he stayed longer it would be only $125. The same goes with hiring - guy who is chucked out of last two companies due to legal issues has got into HCL without any problem - thanks to his manager and is currently onsite.

Appraisal has nothing to do with increments - guys who have got very good appraisal and won award in project have not got increment but had to apply for job elsewhere.

Please don’t get led away by the news releases and advertisements of companies - they do all this for their self satisfaction and nothing else.

    Guys,
In some projects due to cost cutting this company is sending experienced people to bench and keeping less experienced and fresher people for support project. Guys, expect the same Firing news soon from HCL .

this is not the end of the story either. they did not pay me for several months and when raised a ticket asking about the salary, they said we have paid you everything, nothing is pending. at one point of time they owed me rs 1 lakh. now the amount is due to a few thousand. I am still working for them and hoping to get out at the earliest. Next week if possible

Hi Aravind, I know of a friend of mine who was working with me in a project in UK. When we returned back to India for some months he was not getting his salary! His salary in UK was stopped but it was not getting credited in India either.

In HCL you have to know some influential managers - otherwise your life will become hell. If you have good contacts with any manager then whatever you spend abroad will get reimbursed and you will keep getting onsite opportunities one after the other. You may not do anything in your current assignment but you will get another onsite assignment and then another. Each time you have to be careful not to get exposed before the client. But remember to do nothing - just sit in your assigned desk and keep glued to your laptop. Guys come back to India from onsite and don’t turn up in office for weeks. Finally they come and they leave laptop in the desk and go home, to collect it next day.

For all small things freshers are writing their concerns to Vineet Nayar in the You and I columns and even sending their complains to him directly by email. He replies to the simple questions in the U&I pages, but real concerns and problems go unanswered. You should be careful never to write anything against the company policies or suggestions to change some bad process to Vineet. He will immdtly forward it to the concerned HR dept and they will come chasing behind you like hound after a rabbit. You may think the ‘Vineet replies’ column is really for listening to employee’s problems and suggesting good changes. In fact it is a good trap for identifying dissatisfied employees.

The biggest mistake guys make while leaving a company is they don’t write the real reason for which they left the company in the exit interview. They write everything good about the manager and all good points about the company. Then why do you leave the co? To find better opportunities!!!!! Guys let’s be honest - if everything was going fine then why did you join another company? It takes guts to write the truth. The facts you give in exit interview are sent to a third party vendor who collects all the data and generates reports which are sent to the management. If nobody writes the facts then what report will the management get about their company? At least the person who is leaving the organization should not be afraid of telling it on their face?

I agree with the post above by hclite.
It is indeed very bad company with a very bad work environment and full of politics.

Your real concerns are always unanswered and it if full of bullshit so called transparency . everything is so bossy. There are simply no standards to measure your work and people who lick feet of their managers actually get the best appraisals..
I have this first hand experience.
